This book examines the challenges and opportunities arising from an assortment of technologies as they relate to Operations Management and Finance. It contains primers on operations, finance, and their interface. Innovative technologies and new business models enabled by those technologies are changing the practice and the theory of Operations Management and Finance, as well as their interface. Volodymyr Babich is a Professor of Operations and Information Management at the McDonough School of Business, Georgetown University.. In the past he has been a a visiting associate professor at the London Business School, a visiting scholar at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, an Assistant Professor at the University of Michiganand an engineer at Penske Logistics Engineering. He earned his Ph.D. in Operations Research from Case Western Reserve University, Weatherhead School of Management. He also holds M.S. degrees in Management Science and Mathematics. Prof. Babich's research interests are the interface of operations and finance, supply risk management, supply chain management, stochastic modeling, and risk management. His research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, and various university and industry grants. His papers have been published in leading Operations Research, Operations Management, and Industrial Engineering journals. Prof. Babich serves as an associate editor for Management Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, and Naval Research Logistics, and as a senior editor for Production and Operations Management. He is an active member of INFORMS, POMS, and the MSOM societies, and has served as the Chair of the MSOM Special Interest Group on the Interface of Finance, Operations, and Risk Management (iFORM). 
John R. Birge studies mathematical modeling of systems under uncertainty, especially for maximizing operational and financial goals using the methodologies of stochastic programming and large-scale optimization. He was first drawn to this area by a need to use mathematics in a useful and practical way.He has published widely and is the recipient of the Best Paper Award from the Japan Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences Fellows Award, the Institute of Industrial Engineers Medallion Award and was elected to the National Academy of Engineering. 
A former dean of the Robert R. McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Northwestern University, he has worked as a consultant for a variety of firms including the University of Michigan Hospitals, Deutsche Bank, Allstate Insurance Company, and Morgan Stanley, and he uses cases from these experiences in his teaching. 

Birge earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Princeton University  and a master's degree and a PhD in operations research from Stanford University.
Gilles Hilary joined the McDonough School of Business as the Houston Term Professor in 2016. Prior to joining Georgetown University, he was the Mubadala Chaired Professor of Corporate Governance and Strategy at INSEAD. He has also taught in different capacities at institutions such as Northwestern University, HEC Paris, HKUST and Tsinghua University. He is a founding member of Cercle-K2, a French think-tank on risk management. He is a Research Fellow (Chercheur AssociĆ©) at the French Military Police Academy (CREOGN) and a Senior Fellow at the Asian Bureau of Finance and Economic Research (ABFER). His research has been profiled in publications such as the Financial Times, Le Monde, Handelsblatt, Bloomberg Businessweek, Yomiuri Shimbun / Japan News, The Hindu, among many others. His research has been published in leading academic journals. He holds a PhD from the University of Chicago and a French professional accounting degree (DESCF).
