Vehicle Suspension System Technology and Design

This book describes the procedures of developing an adaptive suspension system with examples. This book gives a thorough introduction to air suspension systems, which contain height leveling systems, electronic control systems, design fundamentals, performance superiority, etc. This book encompasses all essential aspects of suspension systems and provides an easy approach to their understanding and design. Provides a step-by-step approach using pictures, graphs, tables, and examples so that the reader may easily grasp difficult concepts. This book defines and examines suspension mechanisms and their geometrical features. Suspension motions and ride models are derived for the study of vehicle ride comfort. Analysis of suspension design factors and component sizing along with air suspension systems and their functionalities are reviewed.

Dr.Avesta Goodarzi has more than 20 years of experience in the field of automotive engineering in both the academic and industrial sectors. He is a specialist in the field of Automotive Design and Testing, Vehicle Mechatronics and Control Systems, Vehicle Dynamics, and Electric and Hybrid Electric Vehicles. He was an automotive designer for eight years in world-class automotive research and testing centers. Later, as a university professor, he performed many advanced researches and has been the author of a book and more than 80 published technical papers in prestigious journals and international conference proceedings, all about automotive engineering.
Yukun Lu is a Ph.D. candidate of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Waterloo. She started working on Vehicle Engineering since 2014, and currently focusing on vehicle dynamics and control, suspension developments, and optimal control. She has worked on different intelligent suspension systems that are developed for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and truck cabins. Her research is successively transferring to industry applications, patents, and publications.

Dr.Amir Khajepour is a professor of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Waterloo. He holds the Canada Research Chair in Mechatronic Vehicle Systems, and NSERC/General Motors Industrial Research Chair in Holistic Vehicle Control. He has developed an extensive research program that applies his expertise in several key multidisciplinary areas including system modeling and control of dynamic systems. His research has resulted in many patents and technology transfers. He is the author of more than 600 journal and conference publications as well as several books. He is a Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the Canadian Society of Mechanical Engineering.
