This book consists of selected and presented papers from the 2022 12th International Conference on Environment Science and Engineering (ICESE 2022), which was held in Beijing, China, during September 2-5, 2022. The conference brought together innovative academicians and industrial experts in the field of environmental science and engineering in a common forum to promote their research and developmental activities. It also facilitated interchanging scientific information between researchers, developers, engineers, students, and practitioners working abroad. Dr. Xueming Chen is a professor in the College of Environment and Safety Engineering, Fuzhou University, China. He received his Ph.D. in environmental engineering from the University of Queensland, Australia, in 2017. He worked as a Marie Curie fellow and postdoc, at the Process and Systems Engineering Centre, Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Technical University of Denmark, Denmark, from 2017 to 2020. In the meanwhile, he has served as an associate editor for Frontiers in Microbiology and as a guest editor for Water Science and Technology and the Journal of Water Reuse and Desalination. He is also an editorial board member for Science of the Total Environment; Journal of Environmental Management; Environmental Technology & Innovation; Water; Environmental Advances; and Chemical Engineering Journal Advances. He is an associate young water professionals (YWP) member of the International Water Association (IWA) - Modelling & Integrated Assessment (MIA) Specialist Group Management Committee; a committee member of the Water Treatment and Reuse, Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences; and an invited reviewer for over 30 Science Citation Index (SCI) journals and conference programs, including the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition 2018 and 2020.
