Computational Mechanics of Arbitrarily Shaped Granular Materials

This book focuses on discrete element methods for arbitrarily shaped granular materials, including super-quadric models, spherical harmonic functions and level set methods, and numerical analysis of the flow characteristics of non-spherical granular materials. This book is used as a reference book for scientific researchers engaged in dynamic analysis of granular materials and optimal design of equipment structures in the fields of engineering mechanics, applied physics, mechanical engineering, and chemical engineering, as well as for graduate students or senior undergraduates of related majors in institutions of higher education.

Dr. Siqiang Wang is an assistant researcher and postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Engineering Mechanics at Dalian University of Technology, China. He received his Ph.D. degree from Dalian University of Technology in 2022, majoring in computational mechanics, under the supervision of Prof. Shunying Ji. He has published more than 20 academic papers on discrete element methods for arbitrarily shaped granular materials, high-performance parallel algorithms, and physical and mechanical properties of granular materials, etc.

Dr. Shunying Ji is a professor at the State Key Laboratory of Structural Analysis, Optimization, and CAE Software for Industrial Equipment, Department of Engineering Mechanics, Dalian University of Technology, China. He received his Ph.D. degree from Dalian University of Technology in 2001, majoring in engineering mechanics. His research interests include computational mechanics of granular materials and engineering applications. He has published 3 academic books, more than 200 academic papers in journals, more than 10 national invention patents and 30 computer software copyrights, and 7 academic awards at provincial and ministerial levels.
